| Nora, myself, and our fellow musicians, give two different kinds of shows. The "Jerry
and Nora"
shows, center on acoustic instruments, tight harmonies, and a very
intimate and engaging performance style. The set lists are made up of a
variety of songs by both classic Memphis artists, newer singer
songwriters, and some of our own compositions. Interspersed in the songs
are some history, stories, and background about the songs and artists
presented. We typically perform either as a duo, Nora and I, or we add
in a third musician, our bassist and background vocalist, Rob Chalifaux. The second format is our "Memphis Revue". This starts off with many of the songs and motifs of the Beale Street Cafe format, but adds in a drummer, keyboardist, electric guitars, and a more high energy presentation style. Here we add keyboardist and accordion player, Don Hayward. Don and Rob have been playing together since the Jurassic period. They work together to really fill out the sound in The Memphis Revue. On drums we have Dave Nielsen. Dave just started with us in 2011. He has a great sound and is the only member of The Revue to sport and Elvis tatoo. We will also feature guest performers, such as Michael "Elvis" Lee, and my brother Bill aka "Big Daddy" on guitar. These shows are always a lot of fun and filled with great songs and musicianship. |
